The proposed intervention consists of oral administration with omega-3 fatty acids in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on hemodialysis, in order to modulate chronic inflammation, a very important factor in the progression of this disease and cardiovascular risk. The present secondary research entitled as a critical review: "Effect of oral supplementation with fatty acids of the omega-3 series on markers of inflammation in patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis", aimed to identify the clinical benefits of such intervention in the reduction of inflammatory biomarkers. What is the effect of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on inflammatory parameters (CRP, IL6) in adults with chronic renal failure? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search for information was carried out according to the planned methodology and was selected through the critical reading tool CASPe, 10 studies were selected, finally choosing a Randomized Clinical Trial entitled "Oral supplementation with omega3 fatty acids and inflammation markers in patients with chronic kidney disease in hemodialysis", which was evaluated as an AI evidence study and received a Grade of Recommendation considered STRONG, according to the technical analysis and professional experience of the researcher. The critical evaluation established that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation significantly reduces interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in people with CKD receiving hemodialysis treatment. This intervention could be part of nutritional therapeutic strategies aimed at reducing systemic inflammation and, therefore, reducing cardiovascular risk in this vulnerable population.
