| dc.description.abstract | This research addresses the problem of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which constitute a global public health issue due to their high prevalence and the complications they cause in women's sexual and reproductive health. Objective: To determine the extent to which the level of knowledge about prevention is linked to the prevalence of STIs among users of the Huaral Basic Health Center during 2026. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational approach was used, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 154 women between 18 and 49 years of age, selected using simple probability sampling. Data was collected using previously validated Likert-type structured questionnaires. Results: The results showed that 66.9% of the users demonstrated a high level of knowledge about STI prevention, both conceptually and practically. However, an STI prevalence of 43.5% was identified in the population. Inferential analysis showed a connection between knowledge in prevention and prevalence (p < 0.05), both in its conceptual and effective dimension. Conclusion: It was concluded that there is a connection between the level of knowledge in prevention and the prevalence of sexually transmitted infection in users of a Huaral Health Center, 2026 (p=0.009), thus confirming the research hypothesis. | en_US |
