Funcionalidad y fuerza funcional en miembros inferiores en adultos mayores del Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor - Santa Anita, Lima – 2024

Abstract

El proceso de envejecimiento se caracteriza por alteraciones importantes que pueden influir negativamente en el estado funcional de las personas de edad avanzada, incluido el deterioro gradual de la masa y la fuerza muscular. Por esta razón, la finalidad de este estudio fue “Determinar la relación entre la funcionalidad y la fuerza funcional de los miembros inferiores de los adultos mayores del Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor - Santa Anita, Lima – 2024”. Para ello se desarrolló una metodología del estudio no experimental, de enfoque cuantitativo y de corte trasversal, con un tamaño de muestra de 133 personas encuestadas. Como resultados se obtuvo que, el grupo del sexo femenino presenta una limitación funcional mínima de 59.1% y del sexo masculino fue 65.6%; entre las edades de 71-80 años, así mismo, se presentó 60 adultos mayores revelando una Gravedad Disfuncional No significativa, seguido del rango de edad de 61 a 70 años con 23 participantes; y únicamente 2 adultos mayores de cada grupo etario mencionados presentaron una Gravedad Disfuncional significativa. Al final, se determinó que había una correlación estadísticamente relevante entre la funcionalidad y la fuerza funcional de miembros inferiores.

The aging process is characterized by significant alterations that can negatively influence the functional capacity of older people, including the gradual deterioration of muscle mass and strength. For this reason, the purpose of this study was “To determine the relationship between the functionality and functional strength of the lower limbs of older adults at the Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor - Santa Anita, Lima – 2024”. For this purpose, a non-experimental research methodology was carried out, with a quantitative and transversal approach, with a sample size of 133 people surveyed. The results showed that the female group presented a minimum functional limitation of 59.1% and the male group had a minimum functional limitation of 65.6%; between the ages of 71-80 years, likewise, 60 older adults were presented revealing a Non-Significant Dysfunctional Severity, followed by the age range of 61 to 70 years with 23 participants; and only 2 older adults from each age group mentioned presented significant Dysfunctional Severity. In the end, it was determined that there was a statistically relevant correlation between lower limb functionality and functional strength.
