Estrés laboral y empatía en el personal de un establecimiento de salud de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2024

Abstract

El propósito de la investigación fue analizar la relación entre el estrés laboral y la empatía en 70 profesionales sanitarios en un establecimiento de salud primaria en San Juan de Lurigancho. El estudio fue de tipo básico, con un diseño no experimental, de alcance correlacional y corte transversal. En la recolección de datos, se aplicaron dos instrumentos: el Cuestionario de Estrés Laboral y el Índice de Reactividad Interpersonal. Los resultados mostraron una correlación inversa, alta y estadísticamente significativa entre el estrés laboral y la empatía. Con respecto al estrés laboral, el 41.4% de los participantes presentó un nivel alto, destacándose la dimensión de desgaste emocional como la más preocupante, con un 65.7% en un nivel muy alto. Por otro lado, el 95.7% de los profesionales se ubicó en un nivel medio de empatía, tan solo el 1.4% alcanzó un nivel alto y el 2.9% un nivel bajo. Además, se observó que los cuatro componentes que conforman el constructo de empatía presentaron una correlación inversa y estadísticamente significativa con el estrés laboral. En términos generales, los hallazgos indican al incrementarse el nivel de estrés laboral, menor es el nivel de empatía en la muestra estudiada.

The purpose of the research was to analyze the relationship between work stress and empathy in 70 health professionals in a primary health facility in San Juan de Lurigancho. The study was of a basic type, with a non-experimental design, correlational in scope and cross-sectional. In data collection, two instruments were applied: the Work Stress Questionnaire and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index. The results showed an inverse, high and statistically significant correlation between job stress and empathy. With respect to job stress, 41.4% of the participants presented a high level, with the dimension of emotional exhaustion standing out as the most worrying, with 65.7% at a very high level. On the other hand, 95.7% of the professionals had a medium level of empathy, only 1.4% reached a high level and 2.9% a low level. In addition, it was observed that the four components that make up the empathy construct presented an inverse and statistically significant correlation with work stress. In general terms, the findings indicate that the higher the level of work stress, the lower the level of empathy in the sample studied.
